I was a new Christian back in the 1980's and watched PTL religiously and absolutely loved Tammy Faye. She was an inspiration to me and wasn't so stuffy and formal about religion. She struggled with God sometimes just like I did. I watched her and thought to myself it was good to know that a woman who had been a Christian all of her life struggled sometimes too. Then I didn't feel so bad about being a new Christian with all that was thrown my way. She made me want to be a better person whether Christian or not. Just a more loving, caring person - just by her example. She was a delightful person with a caring, giving heart and soul and I loved her. I truly believe we would have been great friends. She was a guiding light when I needed one most. I know where she is and am only sorry for her beloved family. I know they will miss her gentleness, kindness and loving spirit - as we all will. I just saw the interview on Larry King that the family taped back in 2000 and was so relieved to see Tammy Sue and Jamie doing such good things for Christ. The Bakkers did a wonderful job in raising loving, kind and caring children. God bless you all and comfort you in your time of sorrow. I'm including several things given to me when my brother passed away with cancer in 1999 at the age of 55. I hope they will in some way comfort you the way your mother always comforted and uplifted me:

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not here; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond's gilt on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awake in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine in the night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not here, I did not die.

This, to me, seems to symbolize how Tammy Faye lived her life:
No Excuses
I will live in such a way
that if the best happens,
I can enjoy my good fortune,
and if the worst happens,
I will know I did all I could.
No Regrets

I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God laid, you see.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day;
to laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
But I found peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of each tomorrow.
My life's been full, I've savored much;
good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
don't lengthen it now with undo grief.
Lift up your heart and peace to thee,

And peace to thee Tammy Faye and the most fitting tribute I would think anyone could have is ~ "She loved" ~
Joan
God wanted me now, He set me free.

I wanted you to know that you were and have always been great influence in my life since PTL-your faith through the years has been unwavering even up to your earthly passing. I know Jesus is proud of you and you have reinspired me to have more faith in God. What an angel you are and Heaven is blessed that they get to enjoy your immense, larger than life spirit. So many of us were touched by you. With love always.

I will nver forget or fail to appreciate the contribution you and your then husband Jim made to our family. We adopted our baby daughter from Tender Loving Care in 1986 and she is now a beautiful 21 year old lady who loves the Lord and is serving Him faithfully! I am forever grateful for your vision and your own love for the Lord as you helped to establish this PTL adoption agency that brought an angel into our home! Thank you! May your eternity bring you rest and a forever of praising Jesus!!!

Dear Tammy,
I still remember you when I was growing up and I would scan by PTL Club when I watched TV. The pretty lady with the pretty eyes whose emotions were never hidden. Although I was never a follower of PTL I had many Christian friends who were. The fall of PTL and the hardship your family endured must have been a great trial. But I've seen your family over the years and despite the hardship you still grew and gave to God. You didn't sit depressed. Only recently had I seen an old interview of your family on Larry King and most recently I've seen your last interview with Larry King. Ever since then I prayed and I continue to pray for you and your family Tammy Faye. As I watched your last interview I thought how beautiful that she still wants to get up and do her best for God. She still even wants to try and look her best. What faith you have and I pray that I also may be blessed with the same faith in Jesus Christ. Rest in peace Tammy Faye. In the name of Jesus, May God Bless You with peace and everlasting life. Amen!!

I knew you back in the good ole PTL days. I sat across from you and we wrote to the Partners. I do not regret one moment of time being a PTL partner. I would do it again in a heartbeat. You are an ICON in your time. I will consider it an Honor to have known you for the rest of my life. God used his GIRl for many things. I attended your church here in Orlando, Fl. I also came to your home in Orlando. You had just rcevied your Pizza and Jamie Charles wanted to eat, you were so gracious to me in your home. I still have pictures of you at the church here in Orlando, one with my grand son Andrew. He was only about 5 yrs. old now he is almost 21. My heart is filled with sadness for your children and the loss they must feel. You lived a full life, and GOD sure is Blessing You Now. I love you Girl.

Tammy Darlin, You are at peace and no longer in that pain. You are with our Lord God and I"m sure eating frenchfries and your big burger. I so much mourn your passage, but I know our Lord God will love you and keep you for eternity. My heart broke the night I saw you on Larry King. I said special prayers that if God were going to take you from us, to please do it soon. I could not stand to see your sufferage go on any longer. You are so much loved by so many people. And to your loving family: Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers and feel the warm light of love on you each day.
I love and Miss you Tammy,
You truly touched my life.

MY DEAR FRIEND YOU WILL BE TRUELY MISSED BY SO MANY OF US WHO LOVED YOU FOR THE KIND AND CARING ,AND FUNNY FUNNY LADY YOU WERE. I will always remember you in love. I watched you on the PTL club show all those years and was always moved by you. God ministered to me through you many times in your songs and also your preaching. I watched for you to take the show as that was my favorite. I liked Jim, but you had that spirit that just blessed me. I love you and am glad you are with Jesus and will see you sometime too and I can thank you in person. Thanks again.
